Computer Department To-Do List

The list below is based on a meeting between the Computer Department, Ushering Department, and Executive Board that was held on October 19, 2005 at 10 pm.

  • Rewrite algorithm for computerized ushering assignments by January 2006.
    • Consider preferences.
    • Consider points.
  • Put the list of substitute ushers on the website.
  • Make style changes to the website.
  • Automate the ushering notification script.
  • Create an usher supervisor mailing list. (LISTSERV?)
  • Delete the Ushering Yahoo! group. (Replace with archived LISTSERV list.)
  • Make Ushering section of the website more like that of Tours (waiting lists for shows).
  • Allow adding before a certain deadline, but deletes should be moderated by Ushering.
  • Generate a list of ushers by month, by points.
  • Database permissions - ushering needs permission to print and export.
  • Create an interface to view the database online for AdBoard especially for Ushering staff and the Executive Board.
  • Create interfaces to permit 'home access' to the database.
  • Create a stronger user system on the website and in the database. (Possible Bluestem integration?)
  • Create forms that are organized by show and by individual.
  • During usher assignments, specify a minimum number of shows that ushers must work, but not a maximum number that they are allowed to work.
  • Make show preferences more specific.
  • Create an online order form for t-shirts.
  • Use a content management system on the website.
  • Make departments update their webpages.
  • Create an online entry form for member points.
  • Create a photo gallery section of the website.
  • Create an online directory of members, but allow people to choose what information is displayed there, with a 'Public Information' option.
  • Put spam controls on KCSA e-mail accounts, especially the generic one.
  • Put logging on the Usher Change Request form.
  • Automate the form.
  • Send confirmation e-mail messages to make sure both ushers are involved.
  • Add the show number to the form in some way?
  • Create a combo box of shows.
  • Index by ID?
  • Add end times to shows somehow.
