It is written, acted, and staffed entirely by students from every corner of the U of I campus. No experience is necessary to be involved in the production. The show will include a fully catered meal and audience participation as they question the actors to try and figure out the true identity of the murderer. For more information on how to get involved in the production, send an e-mail message to kcsa-tech On The RocksProduced each spring in the Krannert Center Amphitheater, On the Rocks is an evening of one-act plays that is unique in that it is completely student-driven. On the Rocks provides a forum in which fresh, theatrical talent—both on stage and backstage—is showcased to the University of Illinois community at the Krannert Center Amphitheatre. It is completely student-driven: the playwrights, producers, directors, actors, and technical crew are all students who donate their time and effort to creating a memorable evening of one-act plays. On the Rocks presents an evening of theatre that is truly by the students, for the students. Each spring, On the Rocks presents a festival of four one-act plays that are written, directed, performed, crewed, and produced by students of the University of Illinois. There is no experience necessary for any position, and everyone is encouraged to help out in any capacity. Besides being a completely student-run production, there is another aspect to On the Rocks that makes it very unique. It is one of the only productions to take place in the Krannert Center's outdoor Amphitheatre. The plays themselves offer a theatre experience unlike any other. They range from drama to comedy performances and include elements from unimaginable situations to everyday occurrences. Past performances have featured situations including a girl dealing with her brother's suicide, the psychological effects of a placebo, interns experimenting with monkeys trying to type Hamlet, and a struggling author trying to write a new play. On the Rocks offers a truly unique evening of theatre. For more information about On the Rocks, contact the KCSA Tech Department at kcsa-tech |
