KCSA gives tours every day of the week (while classes are in session) at 3:00pm. We also give Special tours that are arranged 2 weeks in advance for just about anytime. What do I need to do to become a Tour Guide It's simple. First, you fill out a tour guide infromation sheet with your local information and your class schedule. Next you attend 3 Krannert tours; after each tour be sure to have your guide initial your information sheet to show that you have completed the tour requirements. After you finish your three tours contact one of the directors to schedule a certification tour or come to certification night. The certification tour is the tour of Krannert you give to a current tour guide. Also remember to check the "tour guide" box when you register for KCSA on the web!! How do I learn about Krannert? There are quick reference guides in the office, and a more comprehensive one online. The manuals are references, not scripts. Also, if you have any questions, please contact one of the tours directors. What do I do when I am actually giving a tour? Arrive 10 minutes early. Get the KCSA office key from the ticket office. In the office, get your name tag, the tour keys, check any special announcements, and check the Krannert schedule. We are not allowed to enter Recordings, Performances, or Receptions. Ask permission before entering a theatre that has a rehearsal going on or before walking on a stage with a dance floor or set installed. If no one shows up within 10 minutes of the start time of a daily tour, and 20 minutes for a special tour, you may leave, and it counts as a tour for you. For specials, you can ask Patron Services to call the contact number to see if the group canceled. Have a great time on the tour!!! After your tour, be sure to lock all theatre doors and turn off all lights. Back in the office, remember to sign the log-in sheet (even if no one was there) or the Special Tours Log Book, and to fill out the form if it was a special tour. Tour Guides are not to accept tips! How should I dress? Remember you are a representative of Krannert, so look nice. While nice jeans and a nice shirt are okay for a daily, khakis and a nice shirt are better for most specials. However, some special tours may require semi-formal dress. These will be noted on the special tour sign-up sheet. |
